Weasley's The Name: Seventh Year
Chapter 12- Chaos
Richard Malfoy's light blonde hair was hanging limply around his face and his short stature reminded Jacob of Quidditch Beaters. His light blue eyes seemed to have faded away to a dull gray and the snarl on his face cracked his pasty skin.
There was stubble on his face and his clothes seemed like they were taken from an old Muggle shop. From what the two Gryffindors had last heard from The Daily Prophet, he had been sent to St. Mungo's for psychiatric treatment a couple of months ago, for he burnt down a section of his father's mansion.
It had been ruled as an accident, but later that week he had admitted himself to the hospital. His older brother, Stephen, was still serving his life sentence in Azkaban, for his use of the Cruciatus Curse on Anthony.
Memories of the Malfoy brothers attacking Anthony flooded Jacob's mind, and quite suddenly, his face began to regain the heat it had lost. He never saw Richard or Stephen after that terrible afternoon...they had been the cause of his brother's many night tremors and sleepless nights...he could never forgive them and now that he had his chance...
No, I couldn't attack him; he doesn't have a wand. What kind of Gryffindor would that make me if I shot a curse?
"I was going to wait until the awards ceremony to show my face," Malfoy said, taking a step towards the two. Jacob gulped and steadied his arm, pointing the wand right towards Malfoy's heart.
"And do what? You haven't got a wand," the redhead asked tauntingly, although he had no idea where he found his courage.
Malfoy snorted, interlocking his fingers to crack them. The sound resonated throughout the empty house.
"You ruined my life. I had to live like a bloody Muggle," he spat, taking another step towards them, though now he was wary of the two wands pointed at him.
"You ruined your own life," Jacob said shot back quickly. His words drew them into silence and then, Malfoy laughed.
It was strangled, but the laugh sent chills down both Jacob and Soledad's backs.
"My father told me to ignore Weasels..." Malfoy growled, "to just act as if they didn't even matter...which they don't..." Jacob started towards him, but Soledad grabbed onto his shirt and held him back.
"But the stupid girl...that stupid bitch..." He looked around Jacob to stare at Soledad, and his expression softened, a miniscule amount.
"So you got rid of her? Is that her replacement? I'm surprised, Weasel, I'd have never thought you'd be into that."
Two thoughts crossed Jacob's mind: one, to kill Malfoy, and two, Malfoy thought he was Anthony...the same mistake the brothers had made six years ago.
"You're insane," Jacob whispered, seething. He began to back away, pushing Soledad softly towards the door. "We're leaving, Malfoy. You won't be able to get out of here once we're gone, and if you take one more step towards us, I will be forced to stun you."
Malfoy stared at them, burying his hands in his pockets.
Jacob sent one last glare towards the deranged man and turned around to usher Soledad out the door. She seemed very eager to get out of the house and Jacob sent her a reassuring smile as she reached for the knob of the door; he knew a few locking charms he was going to place on the house.
"Hey Weasel," Malfoy called. Soledad hissed a protest, grabbing onto his sleeve, but Jacob huffed and turned around, his ears bright red.
There was a crack and Malfoy was suddenly not across the room, but a foot in front of Jacob, sneering wildly. The redhead couldn't open his mouth to utter a single syllable before Malfoy thrust his fist into Jacob's stomach.
Soledad shrieked as Jacob fell to the floor, and she fell to her knees with him, looking back up at Malfoy with wide, terrified eyes.
She let out another horrific scream at the sight of a bloody six-inch dagger hanging limply in Malfoy's grasp.
~~~
A dark room...Soledad...red...CRACK...the room spins...Malfoy...
"Ah..." Anthony Weasley moaned, wrapping his arms around his stomach. He felt like he was going to vomit; his head began to pound with an intense migraine.
A scream...an excruciating pain...Quidditch uniform... red...Jacob...scared...darkness...
His eyes shot open, and his breathing was deep and ragged as he looked around at the warm Gryffindor Common room. What in Merlin's name was that? Anthony sat up, nervously checking out his surroundings. He had never fully awoken from one of his nightmares before...
Taylor, who was sitting on the floor writing a letter, heard the moan and looked up, noticing the grimace on his face. She tilted her head, letting her long hair ripple over her shoulder.
"You okay?" The blonde was immediately reminded of his nightmare last night, and her eyebrows furrowed.
He turned to her, staring with his eyes wide and face sweaty,
"I...I need to see Madam Pomfrey," he groaned as a wave of pain shuddered through his body. Taylor shot up off the ground, but Anthony had already pushed himself off the couch and towards the portrait hole.
"Anthony!"
~~~
It took them a few extra minutes to get to the Hospital Wing because the two Gryffindors seemed to run into every Ravenclaw in all of Hogwarts ("You're going to lose and that's final!" Anthony had screamed at one point).
Anthony pushed the doors to the Hospital Wing open and quickly noticed that Madame Pomfrey did not accost them immediately, which was odd, because the matron was usually rushing around looking for something to do.
"Come on, she must be in the back," Taylor muttered, grabbing his arm and starting towards the Matron's office. Anthony pulled away from Taylor, and she quickly spun to look at him. "What?"
There was a murmur of voices behind the curtain the two were standing near. As they shifted closer, the voices became more recognizable.
Anthony put up one finger to silence her. Instantly, Taylor realized what he was doing, and she began to listen carefully.
"You think he's around here?" Professor Potter asked, clearly angry.
"How can you be so sure?" Hermione Granger-Weasley choked out. Anthony immediately grew more concerned at his mother's voice.
"I'm not, it's just a feeling," Headmaster Dumbledore said quietly. "He should be of no real threat to us, even if he is on the loose. Richard Malfoy has not held a wand since he was expelled."
"Then why the secrecy?" Madame Pomfrey asked, clearly confused. Dumbledore sighed softly.
"The Daily Prophet reported that a Muggle shop had been broken into by a man that looked suspiciously like Richard, and that he had stolen some very dangerous items."
"Oh wow..." Taylor whispered, completely in shock. Her eyes had been locked on the shadows moving behind the curtains.
Her 'brother' was insane...wasn't he? Who knows what he could do now that he was out of the restraints of St. Mungo's...he could never stop being a wizard...he might be able to make some terrible things happen without the use of a wand...
"He's here, I know it!" Anthony cried out suddenly, pushing away the curtains to reveal himself and Taylor to the adults in the room.
Silence fell onto the room as all eyes remained on Anthony. Hermione looked to be in shock at her son's abrupt appearance, and she hurried to his side.
Dumbledore broke the silence with a collected voice,
"Why do you think that, Mr. Weasley?"
Anthony's eyes darted from Hermione's to the floor, then to Dumbledore. He looked crestfallen and scared, his eyes watery.
"I had a dream," Anthony mumbled.
"What about it?" Taylor asked, coming from behind and looking up with narrowed eyes. She was a bit angry with him for not giving her any details beforehand, and didn't think twice about having interrupted the Headmaster's interrogation.
"I...I saw a lot of things..." He squinted his eyes, trying to recall all of the images. "I saw Soledad, and she was scared...I saw red, like...my hair." Anthony's eyes lit up and he looked at Dumbledore, who seemed to have understood. "I saw Malfoy, Professor Dumbledore, he's here, he's with Soledad and Jacob!"
Hermione gripped her son's arm tightly, Professor Potter unconsciously rubbed his scar, and Taylor covered her mouth with her hands to hold back any sounds she was ready to make. Dumbledore remained eerily still and examined the boy.
"So he's close," Professor Potter said softly, staring intently at Anthony. Hermione held a sob, and Dumbledore's eyes sparkled.
"Wait, I don't understand..." Taylor whispered, moving out of the way of Madame Pomfrey, who was coming towards them with a tray of different potions.
"I'm quite sure Anthony doesn't have the same connection you had to Voldemort, Harry," Dumbledore said to Professor Potter, frowning.
"But what about something like it, if not the same?" Professor Potter retorted. "It's not normal to be dreaming of your brother and an enemy you haven't seen since you were eleven all out of the blue!"
Dumbledore nodded slightly, though obviously not convinced.
"I believe you may be on to something, Harry, though quite honestly I'm not sure what."
~~~
Brian Weasley ran into the Great Hall, bursting the doors open. The few students that were in the room looked up, and saw that the Gryffindor was in an odd state.
He looked a bit hysterical.
His green eyes were extremely wide, and his mouth was contorted in some weird smile/sneer.
"Is Jacob in here?" he screamed in a voice that was much higher-pitched than his normal one.
Brian scanned the room for any shade of red other than Gryffindor robes. He nearly fainted when he saw Emily Weasley, Ewan Finnegan, and Orion Potter.
He raced down the aisle and skidded to a halt. In one quick swoop, he grabbed Orion by the collar of his robes, and pulled him out of his seat.
"Brian!" Emily screamed. Brian stared at his cousin oddly, as if his actions were nothing but ordinary.
"I need him!" he yelled. It didn't bother him at all that everyone in The Great Hall was staring at him like he was a madman.
Then, he saw Ewan.
"You! I need you too!"
He began to drag Orion out of the Great Hall, and Emily and Ewan followed, clearly interested.
"What's going on?" Emily asked, actually running to catch up with her insane cousin. Orion was struggling to remain standing because Brian was a much faster runner than he was.
"It's three thirty, three thirty!" Brian exclaimed, tugging harder on Orion's collar, making him choke. "Jacob and Soledad are no where to be found, and the game starts in thirty minutes!"
"What does that have to do with us?" Ewan asked. Emily lagged behind slightly and Ewan slowed down to grab her hand to help her catch up. Brian stopped abruptly, causing the two to ram into him.
He spun around, an odd flare in his eyes. He reminded them all of Brian's father Fred, when he invented something spectacular and wanted to show it off.
"You," he said, pointing to Ewan, "are going to play replacement Chaser. And Orion here," he lifted Orion about a foot off the ground, "is going to play Keeper."
"What?" the two boys shouted, although they also looked very excited.
"But it's the deciding match!" Orion exclaimed, his voice cracking. "You're going to let us play in the de-ci-ding match?"
"Would you rather have us forfeit? To Ravenclaw?" Brian growled, and Orion shook his head vigorously. Brian's head snapped to Ewan, and the boy shook his head as well. Brian seemed to look triumphant...or maniacal. "Good. Now, to the Quidditch pitch!"
He let go of Orion and ran off, yelling madly at any student who passed him.
The three Gryffindors stared at each other for a few moments, but then decided to run off and catch the insane Co-captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
~~~
Brian turned a corner, actually, slid around the corner, and of course, ran into someone. They both toppled to the floor, Brian landing unceremoniously on top of his victim.
Sarah Lee the Ravenclaw did not look pleased.
Brian blushed furiously as he pushed his body off of hers, but still too stunned to stand up. He was now hovering over her, his arms stopping her from rolling away.
"Get. Away. From. Me."
Her eyes were wide with anger and her face was red as a pair of Gryffindor robes.
Quickly, Brian stood up quickly, putting his hand out to her.
"I'm s-so sorry Sarah; wasn't paying attention." He looked behind him to see if the three fourth years were anywhere near as Sarah pulled herself up.
"When do you ever?" she muttered, smoothing out her skirt. Brian's guilt floated away at her response. "Have you seen Anthony?"
"Are you obsessed with arranging this award thing?" Brian moaned, putting his hand to his head. Sarah looked as if she was ready to start a rant and Brian shuddered softly. "I really have to be going..."
"Brian! Do I get to ride Jake's broom?" Orion asked excitedly as the three younger students finally caught up.
"I suppose, I bet he won't mind, just don't scratch it," Brian said, smiling at the boy. "You're going to do a fine job, and this will definitely secure a spot for you next...year..."
His gaze had slowly turned to Sarah, who was quietly sneaking away. Brian realized, for the first time today, that she was a Ravenclaw.
The enemy.
"OH no you don't!" he exclaimed, running after her and catching her arm. Sarah smiled sarcastically at him, and she quickly tried to get out of Brian's grasp.
"Excuse me while I go to my common room to support my House!" she squealed, as Brian began to drag her towards the Quidditch pitch.
"And let you tell Daniel that we have two substitute players? You must be crazy!"
Emily, Ewan, and Orion watched in amazement as Sarah's face burned a deep crimson. The five students began down the hall and outside towards the Quidditch pitch.
"I swear Brian Weasley!" Sarah shrieked, her hair blowing in the wind. "After all these years of driving me ab-so-lutely insane, this has to be the STUpidest thing you've ever--mmm!"
The Head Girl was not able to finish her rant, because as quickly as Brian had swooped Orion out of his seat, he had grabbed Sarah's shoulders and placed a passionate kiss on her lips. The Ravenclaw stood limply in his arms and did not push him away.
The trio stared in shock.
Brian broke the kiss and looked down at Sarah, whose eyes were wide and face was burning. His face made it seem like he had absolutely no idea where the kiss came from, but he was going to act like he did.
"No, Sarah," he said, his voice a bit husky. The Ravenclaw's knees wobbled. "That was the stupidest thing I've ever done. Now, come on."
And they all headed towards the Quidditch pitch without another word.
~~~
"Jacob!" Soledad screamed, her hands hovering over his body, shaking in shock. Malfoy chuckled softly, and then began to laugh loudly, dropping the dagger and clutching his sides.
Jacob's Quidditch jersey was soaked with deep red blood, starting from the rip in his stomach and trickling down like estuaries. His face had gone immediately white, and his mouth was wide and struggling for air.
The terrified girl finally grew enough sense to start performing some healing charms on Jacob, and with a slash of her wand, she ripped off his Quidditch Jersey, grimacing at the sight of the injury.
Jacob's eyes blinked furiously as Soledad leaned over him, waving her wand and chanting some incantations repeatedly. His rolling eyes finally focused on her and he forced a smile though her eyes were locked onto the gash.
"That feels good," he whispered, but he had to close his eyes afterward as a shock of pain made his body shudder. Soledad's tear filled eyes darted to his face, and she released a forced giggle at his joke, turning her attention back to the wound.
All the while, Malfoy continued to laugh.
She had been able to work on Jacob through the Mandrake-like laughter of Malfoy for a few minutes, but finally, as his laughter seemed to grow during her attempts, Soledad's patience snapped, and she stood up, her wand pointed directly at Malfoy.
"¡Yo lo mataré! ¡Yo me cercioraré cada última gota de sangre se rezuma fuera de su cuerpo!" she shrieked, storming towards him.
Malfoy immediately stopped laughing and stood up straight, crossing his arms. His eyes locked onto her wand, and the two stood staring at each other for what seemed like an eternity.
The only sound was Jacob's ragged breathing.
"Just cut the shit and take me to Hogwarts!" Malfoy yelled suddenly, making Soledad jump. "I know you two are the only students in Hogsmeade, show me how you got here."
"Stup--"
There was a CRACK and then a scuffle as Malfoy tackled Soledad's knees, sending her to the ground with a sickening thud.
Jacob croaked in protest and rolled over to his side, only to moan and fall back on to the ground, head hitting the board.
She screamed again, praying that someone in Hogsmeade would hear the struggle, but Malfoy was too strong, and he pulled her hair back, making fresh tears spring to her eyes.
"Did you really think my father would let me live as a Muggle?" he hissed into her ear. "You poor, naïve child. I don't have a wand, of course, but I'm quite capable in the art of wandless magic."
He lifted her up with his fingers tangled in her curls, not bothering to be gentle as she squeaked in pain. The dagger slowly slid to her neck, and Soledad didn't want to breath, fearing it would push the blade into her skin. Tears streaked down her face, and she didn't know what to do with her hands; her wand was somewhere on the floor and she didn't dare move until Malfoy moved her.
What am I going to do? Ideas raced before her eyes, but she was in too much shock to think coherently.
Malfoy pulled her over to the other side of the room, bending down and roughly pulling her with him to pick up his invisibility cloak. He flung it over them, and then snarled into her ear:
"Try and get away and I will slice this dagger through your neck, and if you die, Weasel stands absolutely no chance because there won't be anyone to tell about his location." She was able to steal one last glance towards Jacob before Malfoy slid them out of the Shrieking Shack. "So I suggest you remain calm and act like a good hostage, are we clear?"
"I hate you."
"Good."
