Weasley's The Name
Chapter 2- Let's Get Sorted!
Anthony, Jacob, and Brian had found an empty compartment near the front of the train, and as soon as they waved goodbye and were on their way, they opened the Marauder's Map again.
"I guess they're getting ready, huh?" Jacob said, watching a dot that said 'Peeves' bounce around a room. "What the heck is wrong with him?" he wondered.
"That's Peeves the Poltergeist," Anthony said knowingly, pointing to the dot. The two other boys stared at him oddly, wondering why he could rattle off such a fact.
Anthony blushed and huffed slightly at his brother and cousin. "I read it in Hogwarts, A History, didn't you two read anything?"
"No," they both answered and then burst into laughter. Anthony rolled his eyes again and sunk back into his seat, having Marauder jump onto his lap.
There was a knock at the door, and Brian quickly hid the map. A small boy peeked in, looking rather flushed at having found a full compartment.
"Oh, I'll just go, sorry to bother you..." he babbled, trying to shut the door.
"No, you can stay!" Jacob said, catching the door inches before it closed.
The boy, who had light brown hair and what seemed to the three in the compartment like golden eyes, smiled softly and entered, dragging along a shabby suitcase. The tag read Rigel J. Lupin, and Anthony immediately knew why he recognized the boy.
"Oh! You're Remus' son!" he exclaimed, making Brian and Jacob's eyes widen. Rigel nodded with a bright smile as he sat down across from the three.
He was much smaller than the Weasleys and his robes were pressed and fitted to perfection. His hair was slicked to the side, and he seemed rather nervous about how he looked; he kept patting his hair down.
"Yeah...I'm Rigel. Nice to meet you," he said proudly, hefting his trunk onto the seat beside him.
"Why are you carrying a suitcase?" Brian asked, carefully folding the Marauder's Map out of Rigel's sight, although all three boys now wondered if they should share it with him, since his father was one of the creators.
"Well...it's my dad's and he's had it since his days at Hogwarts...so...I thought I'd bring it along too," he said with a tint of pink on his cheeks. "Mum fixed it up so that it wouldn't break, but I didn't want her to make it look like new...it would've ruined the affect."
"That's a great idea, actually," Anthony noted, taking in the worn look of the suitcase. "Mum's stuff should be able to hold the amount of books that a seventh year has to carry, I should've asked for hers!"
"Why in the name of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore would you want to carry so many books?" Jacob asked, his eyes wide with confusion as Brian beamed at the use of his namesake's full name.
Anthony squirmed under the sight of
his twin and shrugged, staring out at the passing country.
"Well, I want to learn as much as I can, don't I? What's wrong with reading a few extra books?"
"When it comes to you, 'a few extra books' means a couple of libraries!" Jacob threw his hands up, falling back into his seat. "Aren't you going to have fun? I mean; Hogwarts can't be all about learning magic!"
"Just think about all the stories we've heard," Brian added. "Don't you want to have some stories to tell your kids?"
Rigel nodded with enthusiasm and Anthony suddenly felt very alone in the compartment.
These three were most likely going to be Gryffindors, just look at the way they acted when it came to having fun. None of them wanted to learn as much as they can, like he did. None of them probably enjoyed reading just for the heck of it, like he did. None of them had most likely never even thought of being in Ravenclaw...
"Yeah, well," Anthony snapped, his face flushing red. "When I'm top of the class, don't come to me for homework, you'll have to do it all by yourself, even if its in hieroglyphics."
"That's alright," Jacob said, haughtiness lining his voice. "We'll just owl Uncle Bill for that stuff."
The other two laughed and Anthony sunk deeper into the seat, crossing his arms and hoping he could get out of this tiny compartment as soon as possible.

In the Great Hall, the first years stood nervously in front of the rest of their peers, some strangely still and others (like Jacob) bobbing on their heels trying to get a good look at everyone.
In the center of the head table was Headmaster Dumbledore, a good friend of the family. Uncle Harry sat to his left, and right next to Harry was Professor Snape, who glared with the same evil eyes the twins' father had told them about.
Professor McGonagall set a tired old hat on a three-legged stool, and the hall grew silent. Then, a rip opened and it began to sing,
"Oh look at that!
What have we here?
Some little ickle, firstie years!
What darling faces
And little hands
I'm sure you're ready to explore our lands!
Will you brave the forest floor
Like noble Godric Gryffindor?
Or will you send some other chum in
Like that sly old Slytherin?
Or are you smart and step in not a paw
Like the lady of the Ravenclaw?
Or like Hufflepuff will you be?
Too busy to bother, just like a bee
No matter where I Sort you to
Believe me it's not something new
I've done this more than you have chew
So put me on, I'll read your mind
And see what future I will find!
As the hall erupted in applause, Anthony stared with terrified eyes at the Sorting Hat, wondering what it was thinking. It...it could read your mind? Oh dear...
"Oy, Anthony," Jacob whispered to his brother as the Sorting began ("ADAMS, NICOLE! ... HUFFLEPUFF!"). "Do you really want to be in Ravenclaw?" Anthony turned to his brother, surprised that he was even concerned.
"I think I would fit in best there," he answered, rubbing his nose. Jacob bit his lip and looked at the Sorting Hat, an anxious glint in his eyes.
("BINNS, JEFFERY! ... RAVENCLAW!")
"We can't be the new Weasley twins if you are," he barely said, not looking at his brother. Anthony's heart pained slightly. His brother actually wanted him to have fun with? Wasn't he the bookworm that never had any time for fun?
("CLAUSSEN, DANIEL! ... SLYTHERIN!")
"But I don't do any of the things you want to do. You wouldn't have fun with me," he explained, trying to make his brother realize that he didn't really need him. Jacob turned to Anthony, his eyes almost pleading.
"You'll never know how much fun we could have." He winked at his brother, and then turned to watch as the Sorting Hat reached the D's.
("DIEGO, SOLEDAD! ... GRYFFINDOR!")
~~
A few more Hufflepuffs were added and about three Slytherins. The boys didn't recognize any of the names until...
"HAGRID, BRIDGET!" All of the students' eyes widened as a rather tall first year stepped out of the crowd, though she had already been sticking out. Her brown hair fell to the back of her knees, and her huge stature towered over all of the boys.
"Merlin! That has to be Hagrid's daughter!" Brian exclaimed, grabbing his hair. Rubeus Hagrid was standing tall at the head table, wiping his eyes with a very large napkin.
"Really?" Jacob asked with a very large amount of sarcasm. "I couldn't tell!" The three boys laughed as the Sorting Hat shouted,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
~~
Time passed, Rigel was Sorted into Gryffindor, and after that the Sorting Ceremony seemed to lose all of the Weasleys' attention, until...
"PARKINSON, TAYLOR!" Anthony's head shot towards the girl, and he smiled brightly, leaning closer to get a better look. Jacob and Brian also smiled, but for different reasons.
"Whoa! She's someone I'd like to give some private lessons to," Jacob said, nudging Anthony. His twin rolled his eyes and nudged him back, much harder, and watched as Taylor took dainty steps up the small set of stairs. She sat on the stool and winced when the Sorting Hat was put on her head.
The hat was on for almost a minute when the students began to murmur. It had been the longest decision by far, and the Sorting Hat seemed to be quite perplexed. After a good few minutes, the old worn out hat shouted,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Anthony was intrigued, wondering how a Slytherin's daughter made it into something other than the ambitious house. He watched as Taylor sat next to Bridget with rosy cheeks, smiling from ear to ear.
"Hey, lucky us, huh?" Brian whispered.
~~
Finally, their turn had come.
"WEASLEY, ANTHONY!" Professor McGonagall called. It took a push from Jacob, but he finally made his way towards her, wringing his hands and praying under his breath.
The woman smiled gently at the first child of Ron and Hermione's to get Sorted. She had heard many wonderful things about Anthony, and she hoped that he would be a Gryffindor like his parents.
Anthony sat on the stool with shaking knees. Before the Sorting Hat went onto his head, he saw his brother and cousin send a wave of good luck. He closed his eyes tightly and waited for the hat to begin, though he wasn't exactly sure what it was going to do.
Another Weasley, huh? it said, making Anthony jump in his seat. Good Godric how many of them are there? I've seen...since your grandparents...twenty- four! That's the most of any wizard family! At least you're never alone!
Anthony chuckled softly with the Sorting Hat, though he really felt like vomiting.
Well Anthony, you seem to have inherited your mother's amazing study habits, very useful. Ravenclaw, maybe?
Anthony bit his lip. "I don't know," he whispered.
My dear boy, I can see that you are torn between legacy and reality. Honestly, you will do very well in Gryffindor, but in Ravenclaw... you'll be bored after a few study sessions. I promise, you'll live up to your family's name. I personally think you should choose Gryffindor, but... I'll let you decide.
Anthony released the breath he had been holding, and the Sorting Hat knew what it meant,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Anthony's eyes widened with surprise and he saw all of his relatives standing up and applauding. He smiled brightly and almost skipped down to the Gryffindor table, waiting for his cousin and brother to be Sorted. Brian was next, and after a few seconds, he too was Sorted into Gryffindor.
"WEASLEY, JACOB!" Professor McGonagall shouted. Jacob nearly toppled over his own feet to get to the Sorting Hat.
McGonagall rolled her eyes, just knowing that she was going to have to deal with him for the next seven years. She had heard about Jacob, too. Jacob sent her a charming smile, and the Professor just pointed to the seat.
The Sorting Hat barely touched Jacob's head when it shouted,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Dumbledore stood up as Jacob took his seat, and the hall quieted and waited for his annual speech.
"Today starts another year, I hope you haven't all forgotten the things you learned a few months ago." He smiled as Little Fred and Little George Weasley nodded happily.
"As always, the Forbidden Forest lives up to its name--it's forbidden for any student to enter.
"Also, there is a yearlong festival set up in Hogsmeade this year which is promoted by the infamous magazine, The Quibbler. Each first and second year will be allowed two visits to Hogsmeade this year, while all third years and up are allowed to every Hogsmeade weekend." There was a loud cheer after this, and Dumbledore seemed quite pleased. "Now, on with the feast!
~~
During dinner, the first years took it upon themselves to introduce each other. All of the boys had taken a seat on the same side, and all of the girls on the other, which Anthony found quite amusing.
All together, there were ten new Gryffindors, four girls and six boys. The other boys, who also had familiar last names, were Andrew Jordan and Joseph Longbottom.
Joseph was tall and thin with light blonde hair while Andrew was stocky and short, with no hair. They seemed to already know each other, so they had no problem getting along with everyone else.
The girls, who all sat prettily on the other side, had already started giggling madly with each other.
Taylor was the last girl Sorted into Gryffindor, and she sat next to Bridget, who sat next to a girl with straight black hair named Jocelyn Grief, who sat beside a girl with curly brown hair named Soledad Diego.
"Such a lovely bunch," Jacob commented, leaning over the table to shake each of the girl's hands. "I hope to get to know each and everyone of you."
Bridget and Jocelyn giggled, Taylor looked unimpressed, and Soledad's tanned skin was beginning to look a bit pale.
"I'm so happy I was Sorted into Gryffindor," Taylor said to Anthony, who was sitting directly across from her. The blonde talked very quickly, and she had also been kicking his feet since he sat down. "Ravenclaw was my next choice, but it's such a relief to be sitting here!"
All Anthony could do was smile and nod as she continued to talk, because he was a bit entranced with the blonde girl. No girl, unless you counted his mother and grandmothers, had ever been so keen to talk to him, and it was a bit of a shock that she wasn't giggling over Jacob like Bridget and Jocelyn were.
"I thought I was going to be in Ravenclaw, actually," Anthony noted, taking a peek towards the bronze and blue table. Taylor's eyes widened in surprise, and she clapped her hands.
"Oh, well good, we're quite alike, don't you think?"
At that, Jacob snorted into his pumpkin pudding and Anthony had to kick him under the table.
"Seems like it," he answered her with a smile, ignoring his brother's snickers.
"Oy! First years, this way!" the two Gryffindor prefects shouted. All of the first years stood up and followed a boy with straight black hair and a girl with Weasley red hair. She was Uncle Charlie's youngest, Kaida.
~~
The password into Gryffindor Tower was "Norwegian Ridgeback" (probably picked by Kaida, whose name meant dragon), and by the time they had all entered and taken the tour, it was time for bed.
As they headed up to their respective dorms, Taylor shouted a goodbye to Anthony, which he answered with a meek wave. Of course, this caused the other first year boys to laugh hysterically all the way up to their room.
"Good niiiiight, Anthony," Jacob squealed in a voice that sounded remarkably like Taylor's. His twin's ears burnt red but he ignored the comments from the others.
"Well, go on," Jacob said, sounding serious for the first time all day. "How do you know her? She looked all cozy around you." Anthony just shrugged and began to change into his pajamas.
"I met her in Diagon Alley, we bumped into each other; literally," he said as he flopped onto his bed, smiling at his brother. Jacob then jumped onto the bed and stood over him, staring at him with his hands on his hips; it reminded Anthony of his mother.
"Well, if she thinks you're cute, then she's gonna think I'm gorgeous," he said with a very pompous voice.
Jacob smiled brightly and then jumped off the bed, barely landing on his, which was right next to his twin's. Anthony rolled his eyes and pulled his curtains closed, dreading all the fun his brother was going to have with this Taylor situation.
"She doesn't think I'm cute!" he shouted over the laughter that had filled the room. He heard Jacob jump on his bed again and giggles from the other boys. Anthony rolled his eyes as he imagined what his brother was doing.
Their first night wasn't so bad, Anthony thought, putting his hands behind his head. Now, let's see if they can survive a year in Hogwarts while having to go to class...
