To Family

Part 2- The Granger-Weasleys

Hermione Granger-Weasley had woken early. Today was the day the Hogwarts Express left platform 9 ¾ with four of her children on it. Edward, Emma, Thomas, and Arthur. Sixth year, fifth year, third year and first year. It would be quieter around the house with only the younger four.

Hermione sat at the kitchen table with a mug of tea and thought about her children.

Edward took after his mother. He was serious and focused, his grades where amazing and everyone figured he would be Head Boy next year.

If Edward took after Hermione, Emma definitely took after Ron. Especially when it came to Quidditch. Emma was a passionate Quidditch player and was Keeper for the Gryffindor team.

Actually, the whole Gryffindor team was made up of Weasley cousins. Lee Spinnet-Weasley was Chaser and Captain, Ben and Willy Johnson-Weasley were Beaters, Sarah Tonks-Weasley played Chaser, Camille Delacour-Weasley was the third Chaser and James Potter was Seeker.

Thomas and James were inseparable. Thomas was fun loving and wild, but also great with his younger siblings and cousins.

Arthur was quieter than Thomas. He always lagged behind a little when Thomas, James and Sirius were up to something. Hermione was afraid he would have trouble in school, being surrounded by a sea of relatives.

Molly was...well, girly. She loved dolls and dress-up and tea parties. She was also incredibly close to her cousin Lily Potter.

Lucy was Molly's extreme opposite. They argued and argued and argued. Lucy loved being outdoors and had been begging her father and older siblings to teach her to play Quidditch.

Lavender Granger-Weasley was a dreamy little thing. Her big brown eyes alone could get her anything she wanted. She was not interested in her older sisters arguments and enjoyed nothing more than being read to.

Remus took his role as the baby of the family very seriously. He clung to Hermione like he'd never let go.

Hermione smiled. The sounds of her family waking drifted downstairs.

Ron came down the stairs holding Lavender in one arm and Lucy in the other.

Edward came down behind him, his nose in a book.

Emma dashed down the stairs, clutching her freshly torn school robes and screaming that she couldn't find her prefects badge.

Thomas crept into the kitchen, steering clear of his fuming older sister.

Arthur followed him looking pale and nervous and reading his hand me down copy of Standard Book of Spells: Grade 1.

Molly danced down the stairs talking animatedly to one of her many dolls.

Lucy climbed down her father and started rummaging through the contents of Edward's school trunk as it sat waiting by the door.

Lavender fell asleep in her father's arms.

Upstairs in Ron and Hermione's bedroom, Remus woke and started to cry.

Hermione glanced at Ron over the heads of their eight children and smiled. He raised his mug of tea in a mock toast and said tiredly, "To family." She grinned and blew him a kiss.

Chaos, messes, wakeful nights. None of that mattered. They were a family. Nothing could change that.
