Chapter 1

The Vampire

A black shape stalked the night, walking as silent as death itself.

The figure was clothed in tight black leather and black cloak whose head was thrown from the figure's face, revealing it's facial appearance.

It was a woman, or girl, as most would say, for that was what she looked like.

Eighteen was her appearance, but what deceit this was, for the woman was about nine hundred years older than that.

Her, usually, long black hair was now short and her black eyes gleamed in the moons glow.

Her milky white skin looked almost mystical, and her ears had a pointed quality to them. Her face was Elvish with high cheekbones and small nose, with almond shaped eyes.

She walked with her long fingers clasping a wooden wand that gleamed bright white in the soft light, the black nails contrasting as much as her face and hair.

As the woman crept through the village of Hogsmeade, her heart thumped, wondering what would happen when he saw her.

She heard a howl, and smiled.

I'll see him tonight, she thought.

Slowly, her two canine teeth lengthened and sharpened.

The full moon had begun.

The vampiress stalked her prey.

But tonight it was different.

She was hunting a werewolf.

And here in Hogsmeade, or in that castle where I lived five times, I'll find him.

And see him again, she thought, as her hair lengthened again to her waist, and she started toward the castle, her lips still curling in a grin, fangs slinking back into their normal small white brilliance.

The Werewolf was transforming at this very moment, as her long legs carried her swiftly toward her goal.

The Werewolf

Remus Lupin hated his transformations. James, Peter, and now Sirius had gone; Remus was left with no one.

He soundproofed his office as he felt the moon tugging him, and when he fell to his knees and felt his bones cracking and organs squishing, he screamed, and screamed.

Until they became howls.

He lay on the floor of the office, the aches and pains of being a werewolf overtaking him.

He was fine after a while and he settled down for a little nap under his desk. But something was nagging at him. Coming back to Hogwarts to teach again had been Dumbledore's idea, thought it for his and Harry's sake.

Remus needed a place to sleep and food, but he also needed someone else with whom to mourn Sirius.

Harry would be depressed beyond measure with Sirius gone. Remus would be the only last remaining Marauder to comfort him.

They would comfort each other.

He heard something at the window.

He jumped from under his desk and stared at the window.

A girl was crouching on the side of the building, fingers and feet stuck to the stone walls, her face visible in the darkness and her silky black hair falling around it.

Raven, Remus thought, incoherently.

Remus trod to the window and reached a paw up to the window, unlocking it.

The girl flew inside and crouched upon the desk.

"Nice to see you, Moony."
