- Author's Note:
- Here is chapter two of my story! As you may have picked up, Ron is jealous of Harry. The first sparks of romance that occur may have something to do with making Harry jealous of Ron. Is it a scheme? Perhaps...
The dungeon was gloomy, dark, and dank... as usual. Harry shifted in his seat, while Ron rested his head upon his hand.
"I cannot believe you wanted to SLEEP with Hermione. Harry, that's a new low! Good thing I saved your butt by telling her that you told me you loved her."
"But, Ron... I think I actually might! Seriously..."
"What?" Ron yelled, a little too loud.
"Mr. Weasley... why not share whatever conversation I'm sure you are having with Mr. Potter? Or, if that's not possible, would twenty-five points from Gryffindor suffice?"
"Umm... er... I was merely surprised at how interesting and fun it is to make the Draught of Sleeping Death! I wasn't having a conversation at all!"
"Mr. Weasley..." Snape snarled. "Owing to that absurd and ridiculous excuse, twenty-five points will be taken from Gryffindor. Now, EVERYONE get back to work! And, Mr. Potter, five points will be taken from Gryffindor for that rude and imbecilic snarl on your face."
Harry considered arguing the absurdity of this punishment, but thought the better of it. Snape was like a walking time bomb, and since Ron, Harry and Hermione became prefects, he seemed even touchier around them. The minutes ticked by. When Advanced Potions was finally over, Harry and Ron were both in bad moods.
"Honestly! I don't know WHY Dumbledore put US in Advanced Potions! Regular Potions is hellish enough! I can't stand that son-of-a-bit---"
"RON! Watch your mouth!" Hermione scolded. "That is NOT something to be saying in the middle of the hallway!"
"Thanks, Hermione for that lovely lecture. Now, can we get back to REALITY? Why don't you and Harry run off into some empty classroom and leave me the HELL ALONE! Harry, I'll see you later, I'm going to the library, where I can perhaps get some work done without you lovebirds being in my way."
Hermione turned as red as a tomato.
"RON! Stop! You've been nice to Harry since our "incident", and yet you're still being a big JERK to me. What is your problem? Besides, you never go to the library of your own free will, and I'm going there anyway. I need to finish my Advanced Arithmancy homework."
"Fine, Hermione! Suit yourself. I'll go meet Pansy, instead! Goodbye!"
With that, Ron turned on his heel and walked up to the Gryffindor Common Room.
Pansy was sitting, leaning over her homework, with her silky black hair falling in front of her face. She pushed it behind her ears. Ron walked up to her and sat down to her right.
"Hey, Pansy", Ron said as he leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "What's up?"
"Ron! Hey!" responded Pansy in an artificially cheery tone. "Ron, I've been meaning to talk to you."
"Really? Okay, shoot."
Pansy put down her quill and looked around the room. There weren't many people around. She put her hair behind her head, gently swallowed, and looked at Ron.
"Ron, these past few weeks have been great. They really have..." before Pansy finished her sentence, a look of horror spread across Ron's face.
"Whoa! Hold it right there, Pansy."
"Look, Ron... you're not making this any easier!" She muttered.
"Making WHAT any easier? You're breaking up with me? Is that it?" Ron screamed loudly, as a few people turned to stare.
"I... I like someone else!" blurted Pansy.
"WHAT? Who?"
"Ron, now don't get mad, and DON'T overreact... but, it's just that I like... Harry!"
"WHAT? You're kidding. What'd you go out with me to get closer to him?"
"No, that's not it at all!"
But Ron was barely listening.
"We're 100% over! I cannot take this crap. Goodbye!"
Ron's ears turned a brilliant shade of pink and he jumped up and walked (as quickly as possible without running) out of the Common Room.
He stumbled through the halls, keeping his head down. Without realizing it, he walked right into someone...
"Sorry", he muttered, and kept walking.
"Wait! You dropped your Standard Book of Spells !"
Ron turned around to see none other than Cho Chang, looking very pretty with her long hair flowing over her shoulders.
"Here." She handed him his patched book. "Umm... is something wrong? You look really upset!"
Ron blushed.
"Nothing major. I just had a crappy breakup, that's all."
"Oh! I'm sorry to hear that. Sorry for asking... that probably seemed really nosey. I didn't mean to pry."
"No, not at all. It was really nice of you."
It was her turn to blush.
"I'm Cho... Cho Chang." She held out her perfectly manicured hand.
"Ron, Ron Weasley."
She giggled.
"What's so funny?" Ron demanded.
"Nothing... It's just I already knew who you were."
"Really?" he asked. (Perhaps too enthusiastically)
"Sure, I mean you're Harry Potter's best friend... and, of course your hair was a dead giveaway" She giggled again.
Ron felt a surge of anger at the mention of Harry. "Yeah, that's me alright."
"Yeah. Anyway, it's been nice meeting you. Er, properly meeting you anyway. Hopefully I'll see you around sometime."
"Yeah, I'll see you around, too." Ron mentally kicked himself for saying something so stupid. With a goofy grin on his face he walked past Cho, (a bit less of a trudge this time) and waved back to her.
Maybe this day wouldn't be so bad after all... in fact, maybe Ron actually had a chance with a beautiful girl like Cho. Whatever, it was always good to hope.
