The Seven Deadly Sins

It was a brilliant idea, really.

Just show up in costume to the Halloween Feast.

Hermione quite missed dressing up, playing the part of someone else. There were no repercussions for this one night.

But it had to be something spectacular.

Original, creative, something eye-catching.

She spent hours scribbling on spare parchment, sketching ideas on napkins in the Great Hall...she even sometimes lost track of herself in class, missing whole sections of notes.

It was quite pathetic, really. It was becoming a bit of an obsession.

Until one morning. She woke up with a terrible migraine. Stalking off to the bathroom, she began her morning routine. Shower, brush teeth, get dressed, done.

She had no idea how or why it took Parvati and Lavender so very long to get ready. She thought of something her father always teased her mother with when she would spend hours preening.

"Sweetheart, finish this sequence for me. Rage, gluttony, sloth, envy, greed, lust...."

"Calm down, Roger! I'm coming!"

"Finish it Helen!"

"Oh, alright, alright. Pride, Roger. I get it." And she would always sulk away from the mirror.

The Seven Deadly Sins. It was such an intriguing concept.

She began to think of who embodied each of the sins.

Ron was definitely Rage, and Harry only reminded her of Envy. That green was a trigger for her.

Who else? Parvati was Pride, definitely, and Seamus was Gluttony. They often had to pry that boy away from the table at mealtimes. It was a miracle he stayed so slim.

That left Sloth, Greed, and Lust. She'd have to say Malfoy for Lust...he had shagged every girl in Slytherin and was working his way through the rest of the houses. She'd have to categorize Lavender as Sloth, that girl never worked for anything in her life.

And that left Hermione with Greed. She supposed that fit. Her voracious need for every academic accolade could be a bit frightening at times. And, she hated to say it, but money was often on her mind. She could always use more books, you know.

Then it hit her. For Halloween, why not go as the Seven Deadly Sins? It would be so ingenious. A costume personally tailored to your personality. She dashed to the library to look up embroidery spells.

Looking through a costume magic book, Hermione came across an interesting spell:

The Embodiment Spell

This spell is often used as a disguise technique or a means of espionage, but enterprising costumers began using it about twenty years ago.

The basic result of the spell is to enable a person to become what they are costuming, in a sense. It enhances the personality traits that coincide with the costume. For example, if one was dressing as a princess, the spell would enhance their sense of regality and give them a majestic feeling.

However, the spell should be used cautiously, because it can often have adverse side

Here the page had been ripped. Hermione didn't think too much of it though, she quickly noted the incantation and continued flipping through the book. Soon, she had each costume mapped out. She just had to convince each "sinner" to participate. She hastened out of the library to find her six victims. I mean...candidates.
