Chapter 9: The Past Meets The Future

Harry was running to the Gryffindor Common Room when he crashed into someone. He flew backwards and landed right on his butt. He slowly got up to see whom he crashed into. And it was his lucky day. It was Seamus.

"Seamus, just the man I wanted to see," Harry said, slowly walking to Seamus. Seamus smiled weakly.

"Oh, really?" Seamus said, his voice cracking. Harry smiled at him.

"Where should I start?" Harry asked. He motioned for Seamus to walk to the Common Room. Seamus slowly walked there, knowing that this wasn't going to be a happy talk. Seamus approached the Portrait Hole and said the password (tourniquet). He walked in, with Harry right behind him. And lucky for them, no one was there.

"Harry, whatever Blaise told you was an utter lie," Seamus said once he took a seat.

"And how do you know that I was going to ask about Blaise?" Harry asked. Seamus sighed. He knew that he shouldn't have said that.

"Well, I thought that maybe she would've told you something. Maybe something about me. You know, all of the things she said was a lie," Seamus said, trying to save face.

"Seamus, I just wanted to ask a simple question. That is all. Did you tell Blaise that you weren't seeing Ginny when you kissed her?" Harry asked. Seamus slumped back into his chair.

"Yes. I didn't know what came over me honest," Seamus said.

"Are you sure? Because the way I see it, you're the one to blame on this whole Ginny and Blaise thing. You are. Do you understand?" Harry said.

"Harry. Let it go. That was a long time ago. It doesn't matter anymore. Honest," Seamus said.

"Are you sure?" Harry asked. Seamus raised an eyebrow. Of course he was sure.

"Yes. I do admit, I did like to Blaise to kiss her. I did like her. And I did like Ginny. I just thought that maybe I could have both of them," Seamus said. 'What a sleazebag!' Harry thought.

"And by doing this, you harmed the first ever Gryffindor-Slytherin friendship. You hurt both of the girls. You did get what you wanted. You got your kiss. But you lost everything else that mattered," Harry said. His voice became more and more serious.

"Ok, I'm sorry. Is that good enough?" Seamus asked. Harry chuckled.

"Nothing is good enough anymore," Harry said, as he got up.

"I said sorry," Seamus said.

"Hate to break it to you, but an apology is just words," Harry said. He smiled, because he finally understood what Ginny had told him.

Ginny was writing her Potions essay in the Library when Harry ran back in it. Harry was obviously looking for someone. Ginny dunked her head so he wouldn't see her. But Harry didn't walk to her. Instead he walked to Blaise. Ginny smiled. Then she frowned. Just a few days ago, Harry hated Blaise. What happened?

Ginny scooted her chair closer and tried to listen to the conversation. She only got a few words.

"I spoke to...mumble...about...mumble," Harry said. Blaise nodded.

"Mumble...it go? Mumble...he...mumble...scared...mumble...you," Blaise said. Ginny wanted to listen closer, but she couldn't. 'I guess I better just stick to the mumbles,' Ginny thought.

"Ginny...mumble...me...mumble...bad," Harry said. Ginny wanted to gasp. But of course, she couldn't.

"Of course she...mumble...how stupid...mumble?" Blaise said. Ginny knew that they were talking about her. Was she asking Harry how stupid she was? That is mean. Especially from a former friend.

"Mumble...up...mumble...go. Bye," Harry said. Blaise nodded and Harry left.

"You could stop trying to listen Ginny," Blaise said, as she picked up her book.

"What are you talking about Blaise?" Ginny asked, with her innocent voice.

"You were listening. I could tell. And luckily, we spoke too soft for you to decipher us," Blaise said, turning a page.

Ginny turned around to face Blaise. "Listen, I don't want to know what is going on with you and Harry. I honestly don't care. But when one minute he hates you, and then the next, you both are discussing secrets; it scares me. I bet Ron and Hermione don't even know what you two are talking about. And you know that Harry tells them everything," Ginny said. She wanted to yell at her some angry resentful words, but she knew that it wasn't right.

"You know what? You're right. Ron and Hermione don't know. But you know. You have known for a while," Blaise said, once again turning the page.

"What in the blazes are you talking about Blaise?" Ginny asked, almost laughing, realizing what she said. Blaise turned scarlet.

"Stop teasing my blasted name!" Blaise said. This made Ginny laugh. Ginny was laughing so hard she began to tear.

"You know what? I don't need this. Have a nice time with your stupid boyfriend," Blaise said, walking out of the library. And five minutes later, Ginny was still laughing.

"What are you talking about that you can't perform? You promised!" Draco yelled at the Weird Sisters. They had personally came down to Hogwarts to tell Draco that they couldn't perform at their Yule Ball, because they would be in America on their international tour.

"Mister Malfoy, we're sorry, but our manager booked us that day. We told him. Honest. But there is nothing we could do," one of the Weird Sisters said. Draco threw up his hands and growled.

"Out!" Draco yelled pointing to the door. The four of them widened their eyes and ran out of the Draco's room. Draco's eyes suddenly turned red and he walked to his bar. He poured himself the biggest glass of Butterbeer that you could imagine and took one giant swig. It was gone in less than a minute.

A small knock came from his door. Draco growled again as he walked there. "Get away. You flaming..." Draco said as he opened the door, assuming that it was the Weird Sisters. Instead it was Ginny.

"Flaming what?" Ginny asked, looking at Draco's bloodshot eyes. Draco shook his head.

"Sorry I thought you were someone else. What are you doing just standing there? Come inside," Draco said, ushering her in.

"I saw the Weird Sisters running. Did you do something?" Ginny asked, as she took her seat. Draco was pouring her a glass of Butterbeer.

"Yeah. I yelled at them. They said that they couldn't perform at the Yule Ball. Now we have no entertainment," Draco said, placing Ginny's goblet in front of her.

"Don't get depressed just yet. I got a letter from my friend and she was asking if she could perform at our ball. Her name is Angie Blair. She wants to come," Ginny said. Draco raised one of his eyebrows.

"Angie Blair? As in the newest pop sensation? She wants to perform here?" Draco asked. Ginny nodded.

"Apparently, she heard about the Weird Sisters tour and figured that they wouldn't be here for the Ball. So she said she would be willing to perform," Ginny said.

"How do you know Angie Blair?" Draco asked. Ginny giggled.

"Some secrets are meant to be kept secret," Ginny said with a wink. Draco smiled.

"Book her. But don't tell anyone that she is performing. It could be our little secret," Draco said, winking back at her. This made Ginny's stomach go in knots.

"Yeah, our little secret," Ginny said, before she leaned in to kiss him.

Ron and Hermione were working in the Common Room when Harry ran in. He ran up the stairs and ran back down with his broomstick in his hands. Then he ran right out of the Common Room.

"Ah, practice," Ron said. Hermione smiled. Ron went back to writing his paper.

"Ron? Why don't you stop for a while?" Hermione asked. Ron looked up.

"Am I hearing correctly? Hermione telling me not to do homework? What's next? She's gonna say that at Ginny's party we could have Spin the Bottle?" Ron said, remembering what Hermione had told him on the train.

"Actually it is about Ginny's party," Hermione said, pulling out some parchment. All of them had writing on top of them. Hermione has been doing some planning of herself.

"Ok, it's going to be a day after the Yule Ball, a day Ginny would never expect. I told Draco about this so he could lead her to the room that it will be in, which is my room. He'll say that I need to talk to her and escort her there. He will also keep her company until the right time. During that time, you, Harry, and I will be setting up. Within an hour of Ginny's arrival, we will have the guests come, which is the whole Gryffindor house, as well as some of Ginny's friends from other houses. Gifts are optional. And I made invitations already. You just have to check them and we could send them out later. It says that it is a surprise party and not to tell Ginny," Hermione said. Ron nodded throughout the whole time she said that.

"And what about entertainment?" Ron asked. Hermione giggled as she pulled out some more papers.

"I asked around. Remember Cassie Warwick? She was a seventh year when we got here. She got a deal and she said she would perform here. I said yes. Is that ok?" Hermione asked. Ron grabbed all the papers and began to look over it.

"Seems you took care of everything Hermione. Thanks," Ron said, kissing her on the cheek.

"You're welcome. So could we send out the invites now?" Hermione asked. Ron nodded. Hermione giggled as she pulled out all the envelopes. It looked like fifty invitations. Ron grabbed a bunch and smiled.

"Let's go," Ron said as they walked outside to find all their guests.

[A/N: end of chapter nine. Next chapter, preparation for the Yule Ball. Ginny doesn't know anything about the party, thank god. Draco and Blaise have a civilized talk and Blaise reveals all. Harry tells Ron and Hermione about Ginny and Blaise.]
