Chapter 4: Stories Start Everything
Draco was sitting in his Head Boy room, writing his Herbology paper. He totally was bad at Herbology. He had to finish two rolls of parchment about herbs that cause you to sleep. Just writing this report made him sleepy. His head kept bobbing up and down as he tried to stay up.
It seemed as if hours passed while he was writing his paper. He had another meeting with Ginny that night to discuss the Yule Ball. It was a tradition that the Head Boy and his apprentice put together the Yule Ball, and the Head Girl along with her apprentice, plans the Halloween Ball, which was coming up in two months. Draco wrote his last sentence and stuffed his paper in his bag. He gathered up some parchment, ink, and quills and headed to the Library.
By the time he got there, Ginny was sitting at the table reading a book. He couldn't see the title, but it must've been interesting if she was reading it and not noticing that he was there. Draco slowly approached her, silently. She turned a page. Draco was a few feet away from her and he dropped his books on the table, which caused Ginny to look up.
"Malfoy! What game are you playing at?" she yelled. Of course all Draco could do was laugh, because it was so funny.
"What are you reading? Some trash novel?" he asked as he picked up the book. He read the title. "Without Pain, Without Love. That's the title of this book?" he asked. He flipped through it a couple of times and dropped it back on the table.
"It is not some trash novel! It is a great book. If you read it, you would know," Ginny said as she angrily picked up her book. She quickly put her book in her bag while Draco sat down.
"What are we working on today?" Draco asked. Ginny shrugged and sighed.
"Why did this whole planning business have to be so hard?" Ginny asked. Draco shrugged and pulled out some papers from his bag.
"Well, I actually found someone to perform at our little shindig," Draco said. Ginny's eyes instantly lit up. 'Wow, she has great eyes,' Draco thought. 'Wait what am I thinking? She's a Weasley!' he thought in retrospect.
"Yeah, like who? Your mother?" Ginny said sarcastically.
"No, like, it's the Weird Sisters," he said, imitating her.
"What? Are you for real?" she asked, jumping up and down.
"For real," he said. He got up and grabbed her hands. He began to jump with her. She looked into his eyes. She slowly moved closer to him. She quickly retracted her hands and sat back down.
"Well, good job," she said, not looking at him. Draco stood there, unsure of what happened. But for some weird reason he wanted it to happen again.
*~*
Ron and Hermione were sitting in the Head Girl's Room, talking about the Halloween Ball. Hermione was listing all the decorations they will need and Ron was working on the performing parts. He has been writing letters to tons of bands and singers that his hand went numb. He shook it and sighed.
"Hermione, when could we actually do something fun?" he asked. Hermione looked up. She placed down her quill, away from her parchment so it won't drip on it. She was in the middle of writing a word when Ron asked the question.
"I thought that this was fun. Ok, we must have different opinions on what is fun. So tell me, what is fun for you?" she asked. Ron laughed. Hermione raised an eyebrow.
"I think it would be fun to just sit and rest," Ron said as he leaned back in his chair. Hermione straightened her back.
"Well, Ron, we could have fun after we finish this. The Halloween Ball is in a month and we are not done yet. At the ball, you could have fun," she said as she picked up her quill and began writing again. Ron sighed.
"For a smart person, you are so blind," he said as he gathered all his stuff.
"Where do you think you are going?" Hermione asked. Ron stood up and straightened his bag.
"The Common Room. I am tired. Night Mione," he answered as he walked out of the door. Hermione stood up and watched him go. She was split between following and staying. Then she did something she thought that she never thought that she would do. She ran after him.
"Ron! Wait!" she yelled. Ron turned around in an instant. She ran into him and wrapped her arms around him. She stood on her toes and kissed him. Ron couldn't resist her. Then they broke away with a small, "ahem."
They both turned around to see Professor Snape standing behind them. "Well, well, what do we have here?" he asked.
*~*
Harry was rushing back to the Common Room so he could talk to Ginny. He knew that his girlfriend, Blaise, would be so angry, but he couldn't help it. Ever since that incident at the classroom, he hasn't fully recovered. He covered it up with fake lies and jewelry for Blaise. He was walking so fast that he didn't notice that he banged into someone.
"Oh excuse me," he said quickly. He looked at the person he bumped into. 'Ginny. Oh, no,' he thought. This was the worst time to bump into her, especially since he was thinking about her.
"You're excused," she said in her most hateful tone. She picked up her books that dropped and rushed away.
"Gin, wait!" he yelled. She stopped.
"Potter, what do you want?" she asked as she turned around. Harry never seen her this angry with him before.
" I am sorry. You know about the whole Blaise thing," he said. Ginny frowned.
"Oh you mean that tramp that hangs on to your ever word? Oh, I am fine with that. You just have to stay out of my life," she said in her most sarcastic voice. Harry had to take a step back.
"Ginny, do you have to be so mean?" he asked. Ginny laughed.
"Whatever Potter. You know what? I don't have time for your petty words. I think that I will leave. You just live in your own world, and I will live in mine," she said as she turned. Harry didn't stop her. What did Ginny have against Blaise anyways?
*~*
Blaise was sitting in Draco's room, waiting for him to return to the library. She probably was sitting there for five minutes when he walked in.
"What are you doing here, you tramp?" he asked. Obviously, Ginny isn't the only one that hates Blaise.
"Oh, like those words mean anything to me. You do," she said as she got up. She moved closer to him.
"You are dating Potter now. Leave me alone," he said as pushed her away.
"Oh, come on. You heard of affairs," she said. Draco rolled his eyes.
"You don't know when to stop do you? You already cheated on me, so what makes you think I am just going to run back to you?" he yelled.
"Well, who else would you run to?" she asked. "Oh wait, let me guess, Ginny?" she asked. Then she laughed.
"What do you have against her anyway?" he asked. Blaise kept laughing.
"Well, that girl could get anyone she wanted. But she has no guts. But all the guys are drooling over her and she only paid attention to Harry. I am just showing her that Harry doesn't care for her," Blaise said, looking at her perfect nails.
"Whatever Blaise. You could say whatever you want. But did you notice Potter glancing at her now and then? I think he got a fancy for her," Draco said as he walked to his desk.
"Harry wouldn't give her the time of day as long as I'm around. You know that. I know that. But I don't want Harry for the rest of my life. I need someone that will give me a nice house and a good life. You're that guy," Blaise said as she walked up to him. She stoked the side of his head. Draco pushed her hand away.
"You like me because I'm rich. Potter is rich. He has no one to share his wealth with. Go to him. Leave me alone," Draco said. He started to push Blaise out the door.
"Once I set foot out this door, that's it. No more Blaise," she said.
"Good," Draco said as he pushed her out the door and slammed the door on her face.
"Jerk," Blaise said as she walked away.
[A/N: end of chapter 4. So did Draco tell Ginny about Blaise? Why is Harry feeling like this? Why is he running to Ginny? Ron and Hermione argue a bit more in the next one, still thinking that each other likes someone else. Oh, well, just wait for chapter 5!]
