I sincerely apologize for this one. Not my usual, and far too cliche. Oh well!

CHAPTER FIVE

The train ride home was spent in unusual silence. Every seventh year was dreading the possibilities that they might never see each other again. Couples held each other in fearful silence and friends reminisced about all the good times they had spent together so far. Even some rivalries were being put behind, but not the rivalry between Severus Snape and James Potter or Sirius Black. If anything, their negative feelings increased.

Remus sighed and ran his hand through Lessah's hair. They were both tired, the full moon having just passed again. Something was troubling Lessah, Remus could feel it, but she wouldn't say anything about it. It wasn't till they were no more than half an hour from the station in London that Lessah finally said something to Remus. James, Lily, Sirius and Peter were still napping.

"I think we should... I think we need to break up," Lessah said quietly.

"What? Where did this come from? Why? I don't understand," Remus said, confused and shocked at the same time.

"I'm just not going to be able to see you anymore. I'm moving back to the States, Saber's picking me up at the station. My room's already been unpacked in the new house."

"And for that we should break up?"

"It would be easier on both of us."

"Damn being easier!" Remus said quite loudly.

Remus held up Lessah's hands. They bore the scars which Remus gave to her a year ago. Remus' own hand was scared in the same way. He had a sudden flash from the night when he received his bite, trying to pet the stray 'doggie' near the chicken coop.

"Do you see those scars Lessah? Those scars and the night you got them, they bind us together. As long as you and I are alive, we will be together."

Lessah didn't say anything; Remus could hear her crying. Remus tried to say something optimistic, but optimism had never been his strong point. The train pulled into the station and the passengers got off. Parents and other family members were waiting to take their students home. Through the crowd, Remus could see Lessah's brother Saber. Remus took Lessah by the hand, she was walking quietly away, and turned her to face him.

"Don't leave without saying good-bye," Remus said.

"Write to me," Lessah said, tears running down her pale cheeks.

"Everyday," Remus whispered.

"And, we'll still be together on the full moon..."

"Even if I have to steal Sirius' new motorcycle the day he brings it home," a tear rolled down Remus' cheek.

"Carpet for Ismorah!" Saber called.

Remus held Lessah closer and kissed her on the lips.

"I have to go," Lessah cried, kissing Remus back.

"I don't want you to go..."

"I have to..."

Lessah pushed Remus away and ran into the crowd. Soon she had run passed her brother and vanished, leaving Remus alone in the crowded station. He stood there, staring into the crowd hoping that she would come back. A hand came to rest on his shoulder. Remus quickly wiped his tears on his sleeves.

"You'll be alright, eh Moony?" Sirius asked.

"Lessah's gone back to America..." Remus said quietly.

"You still coming to James' place for the weekend?"

"No, I think I'll just go home. Sorry about that."

Remus live out in the middle of nowhere. He was glad that he had passed his tests to be able to apparate before he left Hogwarts. His house was empty and dark when he got home. It meant that his mother was probably in town, or at one of her Mother Advocates of Werewolf Children meetings. Remus left his trunk at the door and went up to his room in the attic. He couldn't help but cry himself to sleep that night. Lessah seemed to far away and he couldn't hear her anymore. Remus slept soundly until late the next evening, when his mother blew the front door open.
