"I don't want to die. But I ain't keen on living either. Before I fall in
love, I'm preparing to leave her."
Harry was climbing into bed after a good flight around the Hogwarts quidditch pitch. He had practiced several of his quidditch moves. Harry was now quite tired and he had eagerly climbed into bed. He quickly shed his clothes and pulled on his pajamas. Harry lay in bed thinking about Ginny. She had looked beautiful to him today. Her dark green work robes were very flattering to her skin color. He noticed that had pulled her hair into a complicated knot at the base of her neck that gave her a sophisticated air. He hadn't seen her in a long time, but she had never looked so happy or sure of herself. He had liked to see and hear her laughing. Harry mentally tried to find witty things to say to her at breakfast tomorrow. He wasn't even aware of when he drifted off into sleep.
He was aware when he woke up, however. A loud door slamming and being thrown open again woke him up. He then heard feet running past his room and "Petrificus totalus!" being yelled. Harry threw the covers off him and fumbled for his glasses on his bedside table. Sprinting to the door, Harry found himself faced with an extraordinary sight. At the end of the corridor was Ginny clad in a large towel, chastising Peeves.
"What happened?" asked Harry as he walked up to Ginny and Peeves.
"This dirty perv was spying on me as I came out of my bath!" It was then that Harry noticed Ginny's pretty red hair pulled up in clip and that her skin was still damp. A flowery smell was drifting from her warm skin and her face was still flushed from the heat of the bath.
"Peeves! You filthy ghost!" yelled an amazed Draco as he emerged from his room. Draco's usually perfectly coifed hair stuck up in odd places. Harry noticed that Draco slept in black silk pajama bottoms. Noticing that both Harry and Ginny were staring at him, Draco stepped out of his room. Ginny noticed Draco's muscular chest. Harry, on the other hand, had gotten a peek inside Draco's room. He had caught a glimpse of Parvati's head in the fire grating, which meant Draco had been carrying on some sort of conversation with her. Harry wondered what they had been talking about. Ginny smiled at Draco and began to turn red as several teachers filed out of their rooms to investigate the sudden disruption to their sleep.
Embarrassed, Ginny explained what happened to the crowd of teachers. Dumbledore, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, directed Harry and Draco to escort Peeves to his office. He also told Ginny to get dressed and meet him in his office as well. Nodding, Ginny walked back to her room. Harry and Draco pushed the petrified ghost along the dark corridors to Dumbledore's office.
"I had no idea Peeves was such a pervert!" commented Draco as they walked along the dark hallway.
"Me either. I wonder how long he's been spying on the girls." Harry tried to keep his mind of how wrong it was of Peeves to do that. As hard as he concentrated, he kept thinking of Ginny in that towel and feeling jealous that Peeves had gotten a glimpse of something he was dying to see.
"Probably worth it though. Ginny's grown up well, hasn't she Potter?" Draco grinned licentiously at Harry and quirked an eyebrow at him.
"She's my best friend's little sister, Malfoy. That would be wrong to think about." Mentally, Harry would have to agree with Draco.
"So? She's not your little sister. She's had a crush on you ages. Why not go for it?" asked Draco as the came upon Dumbledore's office. "Peppermint twist." At Draco's words, the large doors swung open and Draco, Harry and Peeves got on the stairwell.
As the stairs circled upwards to Dumbledore's office, Harry said "Draco, if I decided to go for it as you say, I won't do it because Ginny happens to look good in a towel. I don't need you to play matchmaker for me, alright?"
"Fine. If you want to end up some grumpy old bachelor who can't get any, fine with me. I just think that a guy like you might be lonely. Ginny's a nice girl. You would make a cute couple." Draco eased himself into a large overstuffed armchair and looked over at Harry.
"I saw Parvati in your firegrating. Were you having a chat with her?" Harry asked, hoping to distract Draco from any further questions about Ginny.
Draco crossed his arms behind his head and nodded. "Yeah. She was worried about me being here. Then we used some time to 'catch up' if you catch my drift." Draco winked at Harry.
"Gross! Draco, please keep the dirty discussions that you and Parvati are having to yourself." Harry began to laugh and was about to say more when the door burst open and Ginny came in.
Ginny now had on a long silken nightgown and a dressing gown that matched. She took one look at Harry and Draco, who were both sitting in pajama bottoms with no shirts and shook her head. "How can you sit there with no tops on and not be cold? I'm frozen!" She shivered slightly and pulled the dressing gown closer to her frame.
Harry got up from his seat by the fire and offered it to her. "We've been sitting here for awhile. I'm a little warm actually." At this remark, Draco snorted. Ginny furrowed her eyebrows at them both.
"What is going on with you two?" she asked as she sat down in Harry's seat. Receiving no answer, she said "This better be quick. I'm tired already." Ginny punctuated this with a loud yawn. Then Draco began asking Ginny about different books on potions that were available in the library. As Ginny and Draco conversed, Harry stood away from them and continued to stare at Ginny. Her hair colored glimmered in the firelight and her complexion looked creamy. He was still amazed at how at ease with herself she had become. Ginny's large dark eyes glimmered with mirth as she teased Draco about the potion books he wanted to borrow. Harry hadn't dated much and he wondered if Ginny had a boyfriend now. Last time he talked to Ron, Ron had made some comment about Ginny and Colin Creevey. Harry jealously wondered if Colin was still her boyfriend. He watched as Ginny nodded at some comment Draco made and noticed how her hair bounced around her shoulders. As they continued their conversation, Harry began thinking of how he could find out if Ginny was dating anyone.
