It had been such a long day at work. Harry didn’t think he could stand one more day of all the dung going on at the Ministry. He loved being an Auror, but some days, it was just too much.
“Rough day sweetheart?” Draco asked kindly.
“The worst,” Harry replied darkly.
“Well, let me come over and cheer you up then,” Draco said mischievously. He walked over to Harry rather seductively, an apple martini in his left hand and a glass of Ogden’s Old Fire Whiskey in his right.
“Ah, that’s the stuff,” Harry remarked, throwing back his shot glass.
“How can you stand it?” Draco asked, clearly amused at his lover’s actions.
“It’s good, and it works,” Harry answered.
“Yes, well. It is entirely unrefined, unlike my apple martini.”
“Remind you of anything else?” Harry mused.
“Nah. Well, you and me maybe,” Draco said with a smirk.
The two lovers continued to drink in silence; one dark, one fair, both madly in love.
A little while later, after they had eaten dinner and Harry had started the fire, the two young men sat down on the couch.
“Draco, do you know how much I...” Harry started to say.
“Love me? Yes, Harry. I do.”
“Just making sure.”
“Don’t worry, love.”
“I won’t.”
“Good, because I can’t stand it when you worry,” Draco said huskily.
“I know, I know. Maybe I should just quit my job and spend all of my time at home. Then I’d never have to worry,” Harry said suggestively.
“I would like that,” said Draco with a smile.
“I would too.”
After sitting on the couch and watching the fire for nearly three hours, the two went upstairs to get ready for bed.
Harry was brushing his teeth when Draco walked into the bathroom.
“You could’ve knocked first,” Harry said through a mouthful of toothpaste.
“What? Were you worried I’d see something? It’s not like I haven’t seen every inch of your body before, you know,” Draco said sarcastically.
“I hadn’t thought of it that way,” Harry said truthfully.
“I have,” Draco said with a huge grin.
“Well, should we turn in, then?”
“Yeah. I’m a little tired. You?”
“Yeah. This whole “On the tail of Voldemort” thing is really wearing me down,” Harry said with a yawn.
“Aww. Is my big Auror man being over-worked?” Draco teased.
“Shut up,” Harry said rather unconvincingly.
Draco laughed to himself until Harry nudged him in the shoulder, which led to a game of “mattress tackle” over on the bed

Harry sat up in bed, watching his beloved Draco sleeping.
"Draco, I love you so much. The only reason I exist is to love you."
Harry slowly ran his fingertips across his lover's chest, watching as they dropped and rose in rhythm with Draco's breathing. The stillness and compassion in this moment intensified the love swelling in Harry's chest.
Draco mumbled softly. Harry caught the words, “I love Harry.”
A lone tear slowly made its way down Harry’s cheek as he thought about the night they had first made love. They had fumbled it a bit a first, but it was so full of love, wanting, needing, giving, and sharing, that neither of them thought it could’ve ever been so wonderful.
Harry nudged his way down under the covers, keeping his hand on Draco’s chest. He never wanted to let go of him. Lately, it was getting harder and harder to leave him every morning, so that he could go off to work. Right now, just thinking about leaving, Harry felt a pang in his chest. He cuddled closer to Draco, cherishing the moment.
More tears silently traveled down Harry’s cheeks. He thought about the looks that people gave him and Draco when they walked down the street holding hands. He knew he shouldn’t let that bother him, but he always wanted to punch anyone who looked at them in that way, as if they were dirty and had no right to live. He also thought about the soothing way Draco would sing to him when they were sitting together in front of the fire, all alone and wrapped up in a blanket. This calmed him, and it also gave him an idea.
Harry thought of a song that he had recently heard on a Muggle radio station. He knew all the words, but he decided to change them as he sang them to his dear Draco.
“As we lie here in your bed, a thousand thoughts rush through my head. It's you I love, my angel sent from up above. And as I watch you sleep this night, I realize you're my kryptonite. I lay my hand upon your chest, feel your heart beating in your breast. You are the one that I adore. It's you I'll love forever more.
I don't want the world to know us. I just don't think that they'd understand. I really don't think they'd accept us, but I'm glad that you see who I am.
We don't fight the wars that're comin'. We see them look at us with cruel eyes. Everything feels so unreal, sometimes I wonder if we are alive.
I don't want the world to know us. I just don't think that they'd understand. I really don't think they'd accept us, but I'm glad that you see who I am.

I'm just glad that you see who I am.
