"A Peck of Owls," the chapter was called, the second chapter of the long-awaited fifth book.... so what about those owls? Was Hedwig really out hunting all evening? Or was she closer to home than Harry realized?

After all, Remus had transformed last night, and he hadn’t become the harmless wolf he normally turned into. He had actually become quite vicious. He had thrown Sirius down the hill, for God’s sake. What would have happened if he had done something to Harry, Ron, or Hermione? Come to think of it, he thought as he stepped into his office, he nearly had. As he began packing his things, he recalled last night, though he could only remember bits and pieces of what happened after he transformed.

Harry died -- probably -- killing Voldemort. His friends, and others, speak at his memorial service.

Snape stood before a tall hooded figure that could have easily been mistaken as an elongated shadow of a surrounding Death Eater in the dim light. Long, white hands issued from its black sleeves....Voldemort reached into his robes and grasped his wand. He pulled out it into sight and pointed it threateningly at Snape's chest.... 'It takes only one spell, Severus,' he said menacingly, 'I believe you know the two words.'...'Ah, there you have it, Severus,' he said as he stared down at Snape. 'Terrible thing when someone denies you their friendship, isn't it?'

Remus has trouble speaking his feelings but after Sirius' death it's dangerous for him to keep things bottled up. So he writes in his diary, all the thoughts and feelings he went through before, during and after the fatal fight at the Ministry. He feels bitter, angry and guilty. But gradually he'll get over Sirius', and be able to carry on his life again just like his friends would have wanted.
