They made their way back to the orphanage, the streets jammed with holiday shoppers even with the war on. He let her chatter, trying to find something in her to hate, to be contemptuous of, so that he could finally break the last tie holding him to the muggle world and move forward towards his destiny. Instead she just smiled and talked and held his hand, pointing out decorations and asking, "Aren't they pretty? Oh, aren't you so glad it's Christmas again?"

This is my musings on that, as well as how being treated as a werewolf in wizarding society would lead to that.````In this fic, the werewolf who bit Remus tells us about the night of the Bite, and philosophizes a bit--very bitterly--abt being a werewolf.``It's creepy--it's GOOD, it surprised me how good, but it's creepy--which is the only reason it is PG. There's no actual violence, no gore, it's just got an insight to a creepy side of human nature.
